Some answers to the most common questions about my work and practice. If you have a question that isn't covered, please reach out.
1
What inspires your artwork?
I'm drawn to hidden narratives and the intersectional nature of diversity. Being in Sydney, Australia, geographically distant from traditional art centres, offers me a unique perspective. The name 'Artipodean' reflects this: art from the other side of the world.
2
What painting techniques do you use?
I work exclusively with Holbein Acryla Gouache on A5 Khadi handmade cotton rag paper. Gouache is an opaque water-based paint that sits between watercolour and acrylic, with a beautiful, distinctive chalky, flat, velvety finish.
My experience and background as a calligrapher has taught me to work with meticulous attention to detail on a small scale.
3
What themes do you explore?
My collections explore the hidden narratives and complex realities of relationships, disability, gender, HIV, chronic health, death and ageing.
Some collections dive deep into specific subjects, such as "Virologic Assault", which examines contemporary life with HIV; "Legacy of Silence" explores my relationship with my father; both "Emily & Sarah' and "Leo & Neil" explores long-term relationships; while "Invoking Belial" delves into more mystical territory.
4
Where can I view your art?
All my art has been scanned in and placed online. I'm very open to exhibition opportunities for physical artwork in the future. If you're interested in discussing potential projects, please get in touch.
You can also follow me on social media to see individual artworks posted daily with descriptions as they are released (links are in the header). [As of April 2026] I'm currently in the process of moving the artwork over to Objkt.com, the largest NFT marketplace built on the Terzos blockchain, specialising in curated and user-generated digital art.
5
Can I purchase your artwork?
Yes. My art is displayed at objkt.com/@artipodean. You'll be able to view the art by clicking on the 'Collections' tab.
This Objkt page will get you up to speed with the basics of how to purchase an NFT artwork https://docs.objkt.com/product/getting-started/readme/collector-starter-guide
Owning an NFT doesn't grant copyright or intellectual property rights: you own the authentic, original token, the 'real' piece in the digital world.
6
How do I display/store NFT art?
You've got multiple options for display:
-
Digital frames: Netgear Canvas, Meural, Samsung Frame TV
-
Screens: Tablets, monitors, TVs
-
Virtual galleries: Some platforms let you create online gallery spaces
-
Social media: Share your collection, though this doesn't transfer ownership.
The NFT is stored on the blockchain and in your cryptocurrency wallet. You'll be able to download high-resolution files from Objkt for personal display. The blockchain permanently records your purchase and provenance.
Recommendations:
-
Keep your wallet secure with strong passwords and backup phrases
-
Download high-res files of your NFTs
-
Store backup copies in multiple locations (cloud storage, external drives)

What part does AI play in your art practice?
Throughout art history, new tools have sparked concerns about authorship, originality, and artistic value: the printing press in 1440, photography in 1839, acrylic paint in the 1940s and digital art in the 1980s. AI is just another tool.
These days, digital work commonly embraces the use of digital tools, including AI, where the artist selects, modifies, layers, and refines until the work reflects the artistic intention. I use AI as a studio assistant. This includes generating content for the accessibility alt. descriptions for artwork posted to social media, and brainstorming.
